DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Oct. 18 (PIA) -- A total of 24 freshmen college students from the eight colleges and universities in the city will be competing for the 26th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) provincial elimination.
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Chief Statistical Specialist Engr. Ariel Fortuito said this year’s PSQ will be held on Oct. 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Convention Center, this city.
After two years of hiatus due to the pandemic, the nationwide PSQ annual competition resumes to promote appreciation of the importance and value of statistics in all development-planning activities, said Fortuito.
First-time freshmen students currently enrolled during the second semester of this year in eight colleges and universities in the province are expected to participate in the contest.
The PSQ also assesses the competency and skills of students in statistics as acquired from Senior High School.
Contestants are entitled to one coach and officially endorsed by the school where he/she enrolled.
Top three provincial winners will receive cash prizes and trophy and qualify for the regional finals scheduled in November in Cebu City.
Participating schools include Silliman University, Foundation University, St. Paul University, Negros Oriental State University, COSCA, Maxino College, Maritime College, Science Technology Institute, and AMA. (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
