Ilocos Norte town records infra damages due to Typhoon Neneng

LAOAG CITY (PIA) – The town of Sarrat in Ilocos Norte recorded infrastructure damages in their slope protection projects including a dike during the onslaught of Typhoon Neneng which brought a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TWCS) number two during the weekend.

According to Marvin Ganal,  Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) head, two slope protection structures in Barangays Santo Santiago and Santo Tomas and a dike in Barangay San Antonio were damaged during the heavy rains and wind brought by the typhoon.

Ganal said they are doing their final assessment to see if the local government unit can shoulder the cost of the restoration of the damages.

“Ire-report na namin 'yung mga damage para ma-prioritize kapag budgeting. Kung kaya sa budget ng munisipyo, LGU na ang mag-shoulder sa expenses ng restoration, pero in case naman na hindi pasok sa budget, ilalapit na natin sa provincial or national agencies to help,” he said.

Further,  personnel from the MDRRMO, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Police Station of Sarrat, and barangay officials worked together for the clearing operations in Barangays San Isidro and Santo Santiago after the typhoon.
