NegOr invites PBBM to Buglasan Festival celeb

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Oct. 21 (PIA) -- The provincial government here has invited President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr to witness the Buglasan Festival and the showdown and street dancing on Oct. 30 in Dumaguete City.

Dr. Nick Elman, co-chair of the Buglasan Committee, said the Office of the Governor has sent a letter inviting the President.
Elman said the visit of the President may also include First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, Cong. Sandro Marcos of the 1st District of Ilocos Norte, Sen. Imee Marcos-Manotoc, and Sen. Cynthia Villar.

The Buglasan Festival of festivals, one of the country’s grandest and most anticipated festival, is set from Oct. 21 to 30 with more than 100 events lined up for the celebration.

At least seven competing festivals from different local government units (LGUs) are set to join the festival, including Bais City- Hudyaka sa Bais Tapasayaw Festival; Valencia - Puhag Festival; Vallehermoso - Carabao de Colores Festival; Manjuyod – Mantuod Festival; Canlaon City – Pasayaw Festival; Tanjay City – Bodbod Festival; and Dumaguete City – Sandurot Festival.

The weeklong festivities will start with a food fair and socio cultural activities on Oct. 21 at the Freedom Park.

The opening of the Fair Booths is set on Oct. 23.

Municipalities and cities that will compete in the Fair Booths include Bais City, Siaton, Guihulngan City, Tayasan, Zamboanguita, Tanjay City, San Jose, Ayungon, Dauin, Mabinay, Bindoy, Dumaguete City, Pamplona, Sibulan, and Amlan.

Other activities include international dance sport festival on Oct. 26; Air Asia Sponge Cola Exhibition on Oct. 27; presentation of five live bands during the San Miguel October Fest on Oct. 28; and Lutong Garbo on Oct. 29 featuring nine competing LGUs.

This year’s festival theme is “Moving Onward NegOrenses amidst Challenges.” (JCT/PIA7 Negros Oriental)
