MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in this city is getting ready over another round of letting go for a new set of 4Ps members considered no longer poor based on a standard criteria of the anti-poverty program.
Dubbed Pugay Tagumpay graduation ceremony, some 318 households coming from 70 barangays of the city are targeted to be honored in a fitting ceremony in the first or second week of November, according to Ginalyn Valdez, Pantawid city link officer.
They will be taken off the list of 2,905 active Pantawid household members in the city by next year, Valdez reported during the City Advisory Council (CAC) meeting at the mayor’s office Monday, October 24.
New entrants for the pro-poor program to take their place will be selected from a verified Listahanan list, Valdez said.
When pushed through, this will be the third or the fourth time since pre-pandemic days that a Pugay Tagumpay honoring ceremony of 4Ps inching out from survival to self-sufficient levels in the city will be undertaken.
But even if they will be out of the 4Ps program, their needs will still be monitored for matching opportunities and assistance from the other members of the advisory council, especially from national offices such as DOLE, TESDA, DTI, and BFAR, among other agencies.
Also part of CAC, which meets every quarter to discuss updates and issues on the social welfare programs, are the City Social elfare Office, City Health Office, SLSU-MCC, and other city-based offices.
Based on their monitoring on the 318 households due for 4Ps graduation, Valdez reported 121 needed livelihood assistance, 52 wanted skills training, scholarship for 224 households, employment for 58, medical assistance for 18 of them, and 12 households still needed shelter assistance because of Typhoon Odette.
Representatives of the national agencies at the CAC meeting shared their existing programs and projects that can be availed, and asked for more details so as to respond accordingly, especially for next year, 2023. (LDL/MMP/PIA-Southern Leyte)
