MANILA, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday, Oct. 28, emphasized that the whole-of-government is committed to streamlining existing processes and making it easier for businesses to thrive in the Philippines.

Pres. Marcos issued the statement during the ribbon cutting of the Small and Medium Enterprises Hub at Savya Financial Center in Taguig City, where he recognized the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let me assure you that the government remains dedicated to streamline existing processes and making it easier for businesses to thrive,” he said.

We will continue to initiate worthwhile programs to give our kababayans enough space and resources to maintain, start, and even restart their ventures,” he added.

In order to maximize their growth potential, the Chief Executive also encouraged MSMEs to take advantage of existing financial assistance and facilities from the government and its partner institutions.

On the other hand, to ensure business continuity amid the pandemic or other disruptions, Marcos also encouraged MSMEs to adopt information and communication technology (ICT) for the nation’s digital transformation to meet the rising demands of both businesses and consumers.

The President noted that MSMEs made up more than 99.5% of all business establishments in the nation in 2021, indicating that they could become the Philippines’ engines for inclusive economic growth recovery.

While more than 5 million local jobs are also provided by MSMEs, Marcos said they also enable a significant portion of the population to not only survive and meet their most basic needs, but also to be empowered to pursue their dreams. (PIA-NCR)
