LAS PIÑAS, (PIA) --- The Las Pinas Local Government, through its Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO), conducted a pre-emptive evacuation operation in various locations in the City Saturday morning, October 29. 

Residents are being evacuated in order to avert a worsening situation caused by floods produced by the Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Paeng.

There are 45 families composed of 120 individuals who were currently evacuated and monitored by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Moreover, the Las Piñas City Water Search and Rescue Team (WASAR) is also ready, which includes rescue personnel from DRRMO, BFP-Las Piñas and PNP-Las Piñas.

Last October 28, 2022, the DRRMO already conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) while, the Las Piñas City Incident Management Team conducted an Operational Briefing Saturday morning with the responders in preparation for STS Paeng. 

Metro Manila is placed under signal number 3 since 8:00am Saturday and Las Piñas City is currently experiencing heavy rain.

The LGU has already announced warning that the Zapote Junction is not passable to light vehicles as of 4:00PM Saturday and rain is continuously pouring throughout the night.

On the other hand,  the 180 residents who were evacuated from their homes have been taken to Las Piñas Central Elementary School. The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) also recorded the names of the family members who were evacuated.

Relief goods are also ready for distribution to the said evacuees.

The LPDRRMO and CSWDO continue to cooperate with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) in responding to the affected Las Piñeros.

Affected residents were advised to cooperate with the rescuers especially during this time. (PIA-NCR)
