SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Oct. 28 (PIA) -- The municipality of Larena made it to the list of national awardees for this year's Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Announced on the DILG Facebook official page, Larena was among the four municipalities in Region 7 and 350 local government units (LGUs) nationwide awarded with SGLG for 2022.
According to a press statement from the Larena LGU, the town passed all ten governance areas during the national validation on Aug. 31, namely: Good Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity; Safety, Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; Sustainable Education; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; and Youth Development, also said the municipality’s press release.

The SGLG is the highest recognition and the most prestigious award given by the DILG to excellent and performing LGUs in the delivery of public service through compliance with pertinent national laws and guidelines.
Larena Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo said he is grateful and honored by another award for Larena and thanked the municipal government employees for their accomplishments and efforts.
"We are quite honored to be chosen by DILG as one of the LGUs in the whole country that best displayed clean and good local governance. We want to thank the Lord God for guiding us throughout this journey. We did our best and God indeed did the rest. I also want to thank all the department heads, staff, our MLGOO Jessie Buctolan, and everyone who made tremendous efforts that led us to where we are now. Daghang salamat (Thank you)," Calibo said.
