CALOOCAN CITY (PIA) -- The Severe Tropical Storm ‘Paeng’ continues to move further away the country based on the final weather bulletin of PAGASA on Monday, October 31, evening.
‘Paeng’ exited the country leaving damages and losses in agriculture of Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and SOCCSKSARGEN regions amounting to P1.33 billion affecting 53,849 farmers and fisherfolk, with a volume of production loss at 66,963 metric tons and 64,607 hectares of agricultural areas.
Further, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council issued a Situation Report on Tuesday, November 1 reporting a total of 110 dead, 101 injured, and 33 missing individuals due to Paeng.
Meanwhile, the new Tropical Storm ‘Queenie’ being monitored, as of 5:00 am, is 430 km East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It is forecast to track generally west-northwestward to northwestward today before turning north-northwestward tomorrow while over the sea east of the Caraga-Davao Region area.
It may weaken into a tropical depression today due to increasingly unfavorable conditions and may further weaken into a low pressure area likely by Thursday or possibly earlier.
Despite the weakening scenario within the forecast period, the hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals is not ruled out over the eastern portion of CARAGA and in some areas in Eastern Visayas tomorrow evening at the earliest.
Tonight, until tomorrow, moderate to heavy rains are possible over Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat Islands. While, light to moderate with at times heavy rains possible over Eastern Visayas, Davao Oriental, and the rest of Caraga Region.
