PBBM assures continued support to 'Paeng' victims in DOS, Maguindanao

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao Province (PIA) -- President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., during his visit here Tuesday, assured "Paeng-hit" residents that the national government will continue to support their needs until they recover from the impact of the tropical storm.

“We continue to support, we will continue to provide. Ito may mga dala kami, magdi-distribute kami nang kaunti. Nandito kami para tiyakin na mabilis ang pagdating ng tulong na galing sa national government sa inyo na tinamaan ng bagyo na nangangailangan ng tulong,” Marcos said.

The president led the distribution of hygiene kits, kitchen kits, sleeping kits, family food packs, and drinking water. Also, a P5,000 cash assistance per family from the Department of Social Welfare and Development 12 and relief supplies from the Ministry of Social Services and Development-BARMM were distributed.

The president also said the national government will provide at least P5,000 to P10,000 financial assistance to those whose houses were damaged by PaengPH. The amount, he said will be used to purchase construction materials.

As of October 31, 2022, 9 p.m., the total number of households affected in Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS) is 16,348. Also, according to Mayor Lester Sinsuat, there are 306 damaged houses in the municipality.

Aside from inspecting the situation and seeing the needs of the victims, the president said his presence aims to provide guidance and ensure that all necessary actions of the national government are implemented on the ground.

Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. said that he already instructed the BARMM government and its local government units to improve their coordination and partnership to address the needs of their constituents affected by PaengPH. (PIA XII)
