GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) -- The Information and Communications Technology Council of General Santos City (ICT Council of Gensan) hosts the 7th Mindanao ICT Cluster Conference (MindaCon), which started Thursday (Nov. 3) at the Grand Summit Hotel here, ending Friday, Nov. 4.
According to National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) President, Dr. Mary Joy Abueg, the two-day conference with its theme, "e-Commerce: Advancing Enterprise Development in Digital Economy," aims to empower Mindanao to excel on e-commerce through agriculture, cybersecurity, digital innovation, analytics, social media marketing, blockchain technology, gender and development, local innovation in the hope to spur the region's development.
It also intends to help ICT Council develop and improve the Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector in the countryside for it to boost job generation and economic growth.
The event is in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), LGU Gensan and in partnership also with key national government agencies and business industries.
Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao, chairperson of Gensan's ICT council expressed her appreciation to the organizers for choosing the city as the host venue of MindaCon this year.
The mayor said that she felt happy and proud of Gensan for being one of the country's top 25 digital cities identified by DICT in 2020.
Pacquiao then asked the DICT, ICT partners, and other stakeholders to continue the advocacy of strengthening the internet connection in Mindanao, specifically in Gensan, as it is the leading IT hub for e-commerce and digital technologies, and for the government to fast-track its services to the Filipino people.
