QC Parole and Probation Office, humanitarian service org team up to combat climate change

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Quezon City Parole and Probation Office No. 2 in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Metro North Caloocan, a humanitarian service organization, conducted a tree planting activity at the La Mesa Eco Park on November 4, 2022.

Some one hundred (100) probationers, parolees, and Parole and Probation Officers as well as Rotary Club of Metro North Caloocan members planted a total of 100 seedlings that later on can help mitigate the effects of climate change in the country.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Communication Services, a line agency of the Philippine Information Agency, also conducted the same activity today.

This is in response to the instruction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos to include tree-planting activities in flood control projects. This is after massive floods and landslides happened in Maguindanao where at least 60 people were reported to have died during the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Paeng. The chief executive cited deforestation and the effects of climate change that have fueled these disasters.

The different government agencies continue to participate in various activities to realize the goal of a healthy and safe environment for every Filipino. (KAA- PIA CPSD)
