PALO, Leyte (PIA) -- The provincial government of Southern Leyte and two of its municipalities, Pintuyan and San Francisco, received tangible assets during the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Leyte Academic Center (LAC) in this municipality.
Shortly before arriving to the LAC gym, the president attended a solemn ceremony at the Holy Cross Memorial Garden in Tacloban City, honoring those whose lives were lost when Super Typhoon Yolanda hit on the same date nine years ago.
The president’s presence at the LAC was for the ceremonial distribution of various kinds of financial and material assistance from five national agencies, such as the DSWD, DA, DOLE, DOH, and DICT.
Some 1,200 individuals, mostly farmers and common citizens, filled the venue as the beneficiaries, as well as some officials of local government units.
For Southern Leyte province, Gov. Damian Mercado personally received from the president a symbolic key for one unit disinfection truck.
Under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the DOH, Mayor Benedicta Tiazon of San Francisco and Mayor Ricarte Estrella of Pintuyan also both received symbolic keys for one unit ambulance to each one of them, to be used for healthcare needs of the constituents of their respective towns.
