QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The public, specially those residing in Parañaque can now enjoy a stroll in the park after the opening of the City Park Phase 3 at Barangay La Huerta.
Last week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) inaugurated and opened the park as part of the agency’s Adopt-a-Park project.
The inauguration was led by MMDA Acting Chairman Atty. Romando Artes, with Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, Congressman Edwin Olivarez, and officials of the local government of Parañaque.
In a statement, Artes said the City Park Phase 3 is one of the 23 projects in Metro Manila which aims to convert open spaces to recreational areas.
The City Park Phase 3 is one of the three parts of the City Park Project of the LGU, with a wide landscape area where people can relax and commune with nature. It also has benches and areas where families can bond, eat, and enjoy the fresh air.
"We know that the people of Parañaque will take care of this space. We are hoping to partner with you again on future projects," Artes said.
Meanwhile, Parañaque City Mayor Olivarez expressed his commitment to develop more parks in its 16 barangays.
Under the Adopt-A-Park project, which started last year and was the brainchild of former MMDA Chairman and now Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr., the LGU shall propose the location, design, and cost estimate, while the MMDA sets the criteria for site selection, provides funding, and implements the construction of the project.
