CEBU CITY, Cebu, Nov. 14 (PIA) -- As part of the nationwide launching of IPW Roadshows for Investor Protection Week 2022, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Cebu Extension Office spearheaded a one-day IPW Education Roadshow 2022 at the Cebu Palm Grass Hotel, this city on Nov. 9.

This year's theme is "Balik Alindog for Financial Literacy: The Road to Being a SEC-CEE (Scam-Proof, Equipped, and Empowered Investor)."

The roadshows aim to educate the investing public about financial literacy, investor education, and investment scams so they can protect their hard-earned money from unauthorized investment schemes.

During the event, participants from both the public and private sectors learned about Personal Financing, Basics in Budgeting and Saving, Inflation and Investments, Types of Fraudulent Investments, Unmasking Illegal Investments, and Assessing Investment Readiness.

As part of the IPW Roadshow, the SEC also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with its new partner, the Commission on Population and Development, for the SEC Campaign Network in the region.

The SEC also awarded Cebu Provincial Board Member Glenn Anthony Soco a plaque of recognition to recognize his unwavering support as one of their major partners in their Communication, Advocacy, and Network Campaign and in the conduct of the IPW Roadshows in Cebu.

The IPW Roadshow 2022 in Cebu wrapped up with a virtual message from SEC Commissioner Javey Paul Francisco who encouraged everyone to be an investor champion as he thanked the roadshow participants as well as the partners of SEC in promoting financial literacy and investor protection.
