MANILA -- House Speaker Martin Romualdez said Thursday he believes President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. succeeded in articulating the country’s interests, as well as its domestic condition and development trajectory during his participation at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Thailand.
“I think our President does very well in this fora, these types of fora, where these exchanges and where… insights into the conditionalities in the Philippines... economic or even political [are raised],” Romualdez said during an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the summit.
“In fact these political statements saying that in the query, what is the most important… regaining or getting the trust of the people and he says, well, he’s always believed that to regain the trust of the people in politics, the most important is performance,” Romualdez said.
A leader has to perform and that’s why the president is very focused during his term to perform as well as during his attendance at these summits and conferences, the House speaker said, adding that the President came very well prepared and well-versed on the topics and issues.
The President, Romualdez said, has spoken in detail on various issues such as global climate change, food security and the economy, having been a student of politics, philosophy, economics, and finance.
In his remarks during the APEC CEO Summit, President Marcos called on his fellow APEC leaders to continue allowing and encouraging innovations and structural changes.
Marcos discussed food security, global health systems, climate change and other pressing issues during the CEO summit.
