CEBU CITY, Cebu, Nov. 20 (PIA) – A total of 2,000 qualified beneficiary-families in Cebu were given housing assistance worth P10,000 under the second tranche of the Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) of the National Housing Authority (NHA) on Nov. 18.
These beneficiaries are families whose households were totally affected by Typhoon Odette last year.
The said assistance was held in three different areas in Cebu, namely: Lapu-lapu City with around 1,000 beneficiaries; Carcar City with 500 beneficiaries; and Naga City with 500 beneficiaries.
NHA General Manager Joeben Tai, along with DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos, led the distribution of the EHA at Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, Carcar City Hall, and VAL Tennis Court in Naga City.
In his message, Tai said that giving cash assistance to the affected families is one of the agency's main priorities under his leadership.
"Providing cash assistance under the National Housing EHAP Program has been among my top priorities since I assumed my post as NHA general manager. As we know, the people of Cebu have long been waiting for this government support, and we are happy to give 10,000 pesos in cash assistance to each family," said Tai.
"The National Housing Authority shall continuously partner with provincial and local government units to assist families affected by calamities and natural disasters,” he added. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
