BORONGAN CITY (PIA) -- A total of P1.3 million sales (cash and booked sales) was generated during the "Budlay Trade Fair" participated by 57 exhibitors of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on November 4-9 in this city.
The event was held at the capitol grounds in Brgy. Alang-Alang as one of the activities in celebration of the 57th Founding Anniversary of Eastern Samar province.
Ruthelma S, Samonte, DTI provincial director, said the total sales was 30% higher than the P1-M target sales, adding that for six days of the “Budlay Agri-Trade Fair,” the total cash sales was P718,914, total booked sales was P550,627, and the total under negotiations was P30,500.
Samonte added that the top sellers of the trade fair are the following: For food products, the Women’s Association of Borongan City got the highest sales followed by Guiuan Integrated Micro Entrepreneurs Association (GIMEA), and the Bert/Razel Delicacy who sells buko pie and cassava cake, got the third highest sales.
For the non-food products, the top seller was Jason Coco-Shell and Handicraft of Borongan City, followed by Crocket Factory of Borongan City and in the third spot was RDR Wood and Shellcraft of Guiuan, E. Samar.
For Agriculture, the top three sellers were: Balangkayan Agriculture Cooperative (Kadiwa on wheels), first placer; San Gabriel ARB Cooperative of Borongan City (coco products, second placer; and Tita Janes Ornamental Plants of Borongan City, third placer.
“The Agri-Trade Fair is the opportunity for the exhibitors and Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) for them to expand their business and to boost the local economy,” Samonte further said. Samonte thanked the Provincial Government of Eastern Samar and the 57 MSMEs Exhibitors to display their products, and the customers during the six-day agri-trade fair.
