SIQUIJOR, Siquijor, Dec. 2 (PIA) -- The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) here emerged as the Champion for the Provincial Category of the 2022 Search for Outstanding Local Government Units in Local Health Systems during the 2022 Local Health Systems Award by the Department of Health (DOH) Region 7 held at Bai Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu.
The Province of Siquijor also received other awards, namely: Honorable Mention for Best in Hospital Disaster Risk Reduction Management for Health System Team; Honorable Mention for Active in Risk Management, Outstanding in Risk Reduction in Emergencies and Disasters Award; Top 4 LGU Hospital with Institutionalized Disaster Risk Reduction Management for Health System; Top 4 Excellence Award in Mosquito-borne Disease Program; Top 3 Performing LGUs on Increased LGU Budget Allocated to Health; 3rd Runner Up for 2022 Performance Based Incentives Award for Barangay Health Workers; Recipient of the Director’s Award; Rabies-free Province; and John Snow Awards for Disease Surveillance.
Provincial Health Officer Warthrode Opay said the awards prove that the local health care system has shifted and is already evolving towards the best health care system not just in the province but in the whole region.
He attributed the success to the collective efforts and strong support of the IPHO personnel and the Provincial Government of Siquijor.
The awards will also serve as a reminder that there is still so much work to do, improve, and adopt all best practices, Opay added.
The provincial health officer said the awards opened doors for the IPHO Siquijor to strengthen its network within the region.
He thanked the Siquijor leaders for prioritizing health to sustain its momentum and for their strong advocacies for a better health care system.

The IPHO also garnered several awards during the Population Commission Kaunlarang Pantao Awarding Ceremony on Nov. 28, 2022.
The Siquijor IPHO received the 2022 National Kaunlarang Pantao (KP) Award Nominee on Population and Development (POPDEV) Program and 1st Place as the Most Outstanding LGU in the Implementation of Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) Provincial Level Champion.
Other awards include the 2022 Regional Kaunlarang Pantao (KP) Award 1st Place on the Most Outstanding LGU in the Implementation of Adolescent Health and Development (AHD); 1st Place on the Most Outstanding LGU on the Implementation of Population and Development (POPDEV); 1st Place on the Most Functional Teen Center - Leaders and Advocate for a Greater Siquijor (LAGSIQ); 1st Place Most Active Peer Educator in Region 7, Brylle Deeiah Tumarong; 1st Place Most Active Peer Educators in Region 7 LAGSIQ; and 1st Place most Outstanding Population Officer, Hilmer Ongue.
