PBBM tells Pinoys to embrace love, compassion and hope in Christmas message

MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged Filipinos on Saturday to embrace love, compassion and hope so the country can surmount the present challenges.

In his Christmas message to the nation, President Marcos said it is imperative for everyone to emphasize the true essence of the holiday season, which is love.

“It is this true and simple love that Christmas represents—the same one that we constantly desire and need—that allows it to be more than just a Christian tradition. Across beliefs, all the generosity and goodwill stirred in this season are welcomed,” the President said in his message.

“Surely, embracing these will help us overcome the difficulties brought by the pandemic and other challenges,” Marcos said.

President Marcos also encouraged Filipinos not to dwell on the adornments they display, on the buzz and activities they create, but instead “partake in this holiday with the same simplicity, sense, and meaning” that they get from it.

The President asked them to offer their smiles freely, share a conversation and impart wisdom to their peers, loved ones and even strangers.

“Let our affection be known and felt in the simplest of ways so that the eternal message of the Nativity of Christ may again spark hope for a brighter future in the hearts of all. I wish everyone a Christmas full of love, compassion, and hopeful beginnings,” Marcos said.

The President has made the Christmas season more meaningful to Filipinos by spearheading several events for children and the needy such as gift-giving events and handing over livelihood assistance.

The chief executive also opened the Malacañang Grounds to the public for the traditional Simbang Gabi and viewing of the Palace Christmas tree and parols (lanterns). (PND)
