Eastern Visayas welcomes the New Year generally peaceful

TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) – Eastern Visayas was generally peaceful as it welcomed the New Year 2023 with no reported incidents on stray bullets, indiscriminate firing, and deaths due to firecracker-related incidents.

This was attributed to the intensified and strengthened security measures made by the police force in the region with the cooperation of the public.

In a press statement released by the Police Regional Office 8 through the Regional Public Information Office, Police Brigadier General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, regional director of PRO8, described the outcome of the festivities as peaceful as there had been no serious firecracker-related incidents in the region.

“Your PRO-8 is glad that we welcomed the New Year generally peaceful. We, in the PNP assure the public of our dedicated service,” General Marbil said.

Police Colonel Ma. Bella D. Rentuaya, PRO-8 spokesperson, said police assistance desks were established and police personnel were mobilized to conduct foot and mobile patrol all over the region that helped secure the public’s safety.
