QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Makati City Mayor Abigail Binay on Tuesday vowed to continue her governance of the city with integrity in her first State of the City Address during her third term as local chief executive.
“My government is determined to promote a strong government that is fair, honest and transparent,” Binay said in her address before members of the Rotary Club of Makati.
She said for the past five years, the Makati City Government has been recognized by the Commission on Audit (COA) for its fairness in presenting the city’s financial statements.
The mayor said this year they will be focusing on making healthcare and other social services accessible to Makatizens by improving existing medical facilities and embarking on programs for the healthcare sector.
“Modern technology will be utilized to ensure everyone has access to quality care,” Binay said.
She announced that the 360-bed Makati Life Medical Center, a state-of-the-art hospital in Barangay Bel-Air, is expected to open next month worth P9.77 billion. The hospital will have 190 doctor’s clinics and multiple specialty centers.
The healthcare facility is a product of a public-private partnership venture between the city government and Life Nurture Inc.
Binay said students should also expect more scholarships and grants this year.
In support to businesses in the city, the mayor said the local government will provide more resources and incentives for green building traders.
Binay also said the city is expanding housing assistance, legal aid, mental health counseling centers and other support services residents needing stability and security during challenging times, (PIA-NCR)
