QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will be the only leader from ASEAN and one of the two Asian leaders who will participate in the 53rd World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 16 to 20, 2023.
Under this year’s theme 'Cooperation in a Fragmented World', the Annual Meeting will bring together more than 2,700 leaders from government, business and civil society to address the state of the world and discuss priorities for the year ahead.
This will provide a platform to engage in constructive, forward-looking dialogues and help find solutions through public-private cooperation.
According to DFA Undersecretary Carlos Sorreta, PBBM’s participation in this annual meeting will put him in a “wonderful position to represent not only our country but how our own region can be the engine of growth for the world economy.”
The President will be presenting the country’s economic performance before global leaders and top chief executive officers (CEOs) as well as participate in high-level dialogue sessions that will address the following current challenges:
- Energy and Food Crises in the context of a New System for Energy, Climate, and Nature;
- High Inflation, Low Growth, and High Debt Economy in the context of a New System for Investment, Trade, and Infrastructure;
- Industry Headwinds in the context of a New System for Harnessing Frontier Technologies for Private Sector Innovation and Resilience;
- Social Vulnerabilities in the context of a New System for Work, Skills, and Care; and
- Geopolitical Risks in the context of a New System for Dialogue and Cooperation in a Multipolar World.
The Chief executive will also have other activities and business engagements on the sidelines of the Forum. He is also expected to meet with the Filipino Community coming from Switzerland as well as from other countries in Europe. (KSAA- PIA CPSD)
