QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The official Facebook page of the National Capital Region office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD NCR) has been hacked on Friday, January 13, and continues to show videos unrelated to the department as of this writing.

DSWD Officer in Charge Eduardo Punay said the hacking occurred after fake news of DSWD financial assistance drove hundreds of individuals to the DSWD-NCR on Friday.

The agency is now working with other government agencies to investigate and attempt to recover the FO-NCR's Facebook page.

The DSWD assured the public that the incident will not affect services being rendered by the NCR field office to those who need assistance.

The public is also advised not to entertain any messages or announcements posted on the page while it is being recovered. (KSAA - PIA CPSD)
