DOST opens Foreign Graduate Scholarships in science and technology

PIA GENERAL SANTOS CITY (PIA) -- Want to pursue a scholarship study abroad?

The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announces the opening of its Foreign Graduate Scholarships in specialized priority fields in science and technology.

The Foreign Graduate Scholarship Program aims to “develop a pool of high quality human resources in science and engineering who will contribute to the country’s global competitiveness and economic development.”

DOST XII Regional Director Engr. Sammy Malawan described the scholarship as beneficial to talented and deserving students as it opens a wide opportunity for them to be able to study and obtain MS and Ph.D. degrees in science and engineering in reputable institutions abroad.

He said DOST is also in the forefront of developing talented Filipinos to help advance the country’s exploration in science and technology being the responsible agency tasked to “upgrade the country’s research and technological innovation capabilities in the area of advanced sciences and emerging technologies.”

Benefits, under this scholarship program, include school fees, book allowance, thesis or dissertation allowance, transportation allowance (one-round trip ticket strictly to be given at the start and end of the scholarship period only), one-time pre-departure expenses, monthly living allowance, relocation allowance, and health or accident insurance.

Among the priority fields of study are Aerospace Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Atmospheric Science, Biochemistry, Biomechanics and Rehabilitation Engineering, Climate Change and Health, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Disaster (Health) Risk Management, Energy Engineering, Environment and Health, Forestry, Genetic Epidemiology, Health Risk Communication, Health Science Communication, Medical Entomology, Meteorology, Molecular Biology/Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Science and Engineering, Oceanography, Plant Pathology, Robotics, Software Engineering, Space Science and Engineering, Technology Management, Veterinary Entomology, Virology, among others.
