QUEZON CITY, (PIA) –The Department of Transportation (DOTr) assured Monday  that the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) - Extension Project, a 147-km rail transport route that will run across 28 cities and municipalities in Central Luzon, NCR and CALABARZON will be finished on time.

"We promised the President that we will finish the project as agreed on the timeline that we set. I just want to see to it that we work together and finish this project on time," DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista during his project inspection yesterday, January 23.

During Bautista’s visit at the project depot in Pampanga, South Korean contractor POSCO Engineering and Construction Company updated the Secretary on the progress of the project that stands at more than 33% as of December 2022.

The NSCR Clark Depot Extension Project covers the construction of 48 buildings and facilities over an area of 36 hectares.

"This is a very important part of the NSCR, considering the Operations Control Center of the project will be located here. The Operations Control Center is the heart of the operations," Bautista said.

The NSCR will be operated by the Philippine National Railways (PNR).

Accompanying Bautista at the inspection were DOTr Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Reinier Yebra, Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez, Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino, PNR General Manager Jeremy Regino and project contractors. (dotr/pia-ncr)
