QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- The Congress of the Philippines expressed full support for the priority agendas of the current administration.
During a meeting with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday, January 27, Speaker of the House of Representatives Atty. Martin G. Romualdez and Senate President Juan Miguel Fernandez Zubiri articulated the full support of both legislative houses by passing the priority bills of the government that will boost economic growth and uplift the lives of Filipinos.
One of the priorities is ratifying the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) which will help market the Philippine product abroad and enhance exportation.
Other Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority agendas such as the Condonation of Unpaid Amortization and Interest on Loans of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries and the AFP Amendment on Fixed Term were also discussed during the meeting.
Both houses also committed to passing this first quarter the following health bills:
- Medical Reserve Corps Act
- Center for Disease Prevention and Control Act
- Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines Act
Meanwhile, the President guaranteed his support to the sovereign wealth fund also known as the Maharlika Investment Fund. He then instructed to add all necessary safeguard provisions to protect the fund and to avoid corruption and mismanagement.
The President has been actively presenting the administration’s priority agendas during his state visits and business trips abroad in pursuit of boosting the economy and providing a better life for Filipinos. (KSAA – PIA CPSD)
