MANILA, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday expressed optimism that the Philippines will attain economic prosperity in the coming years as the administration presented to the public the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, the country’s blueprint for socioeconomic development over the medium term.

We look towards the future with hope, with optimism. But our gaze can only go as far as what we have done to unburden the life of the ordinary Filipino,” Pres. Marcos said during the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 Forum in Pasay City.

These are truly bold plans, but I have the confidence in the brilliant minds who will become our partners in realizing the vision contained in this document and faith in the capacity of our people,” he said.

The PDP is the country’s plan for economic and social transformation. Framed by Pres. Marcos’ 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda—which seeks to address short-term issues confronting the country and medium-term constraints to rapid growth and inclusion—the Plan seeks to effect economic transformation toward a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient society

The Plan is also geared toward the realization of the AmBisyon Natin 2040, the Filipino people’s collective vision for the long term.

In the next six years, Marcos said his administration’s overall goal for the Philippines is to “reinvigorate job creation and accelerate poverty reduction by steering the economy back to its high-growth path and effect economic transformation.”

To attain this goal, the Chief Executive encouraged Filipinos to follow a whole-of-nation approach to effectively implement the PDP and elevate the country to new heights.

After all, the success of our government and our nation lies in all of us working together — we need to cooperate and to collaborate so we can realize our goals moving forward,” Pres. Marcos said.

Together, let us channel our energies in creating an economy that works for everyone and gives every Filipino, no matter their circumstances, a better life,” he added.

To recall, the PDP was formulated through several months of consultative and collaborative engagements with government agencies, local government units, development partners, sectoral experts, private sector and stakeholder groups, and the general public. (PIA-NCR)
