PBBM to lead groundbreaking of 2nd ‘Pambansang Pabahay’ project in QC

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Project-Batasan Development Urban Renewal Plan on January 31, 2023 (Tuesday) in Quezon City.

The 4PH project is the second for Quezon City. In September of last year, the Marcos administration’s housing program was officially launched in Harmony Hills Terraces in Barangay Batasan Hills.

For Tuesday’s event, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and BATODA President Charlie Mangune will accompany President Marcos among other national and local government officials.

In a statement earlier, Acuzar said that following the positive traction gained by the 4PH program, he expects the initial construction phase to commence within the first semester of 2023.

DHSUD chief said the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program has already attracted interest of 47 local government units – – signing Memoranda of Understanding with the Department.

Of the 47 LGUs from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, 12 had already broken ground for their housing projects.

The flagship housing program also got the backing of several government financial institutions (GFIs) like the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, which allocated P250 billion for the program; the Land Bank of the Philippines, the Government Service Insurance System, the Development Bank of the Philippines and the Social Security System.

The program was also boosted by the support of the country’s private developers’ groups, like the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association Inc., the National Real Estate Association and the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines.

The Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program aims to build 1 million housing units every year in the next six years to bridge the growing housing gap. (pia-ncr)
