45 beneficiaries in Southern Leyte get DOLE’s Negokart project

MAASIN CITY (PIA) -- Some 45 micro, struggling entrepreneurs got a boost in their simple ambulant businesses with the turnover over the weekend at the Tomas Oppus Pilot School (TOPS), this city, of mobile carts that can carry their wares.

Ten (10) out of the 45 recipients were residents in Maasin City, the others coming from the different municipalities.

Attending the turnover rites were Gov. Damian Mercado, Vice Gov. Emily Mercado, city officials, Public Employment Service Officers (PESO) of beneficiary LGUs, and DOLE provincial personnel.

Tingog Partylist Rep. Jude Acidre and Usec. Mark Gimenez of PMS-Visayas were also around as guest of honors.

Negokart or Negosyo sa Kariton is a continuing livelihood project of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) targeting the jobless.

The government, through the DOLE, provides seed capital in the form of assorted stocks, trinkets, for selling including the vending cart, with high hopes this intervention can improve the lives of the beneficiaries who shall have made good on the initial investment.  (MMP/PIA S.
