Shoppers flock to QC store accepting onions as payment

MANILA, (PIA) -- Shoppers flocked to a Japanese store in Quezon City after receiving onions as payment for some of their select merchandise within a day.

Consumers thronged the main branch of Japan Home Center in Panay, Quezon City this Saturday to buy some select items, which can be paid for with onions.

This includes cooking pans, cleaning solutions, and various home products worth up to P88.

It is known that each product has only one onion equivalent.

Each customer can only buy up to three items or pay for up to three onions.

According to Japan Home Center Marketing Officer Mitzi Gamboa, the event lasted until 8:00 pm this Saturday only.

He said, the onions they collected will be used in the community pantry that will be built opposite the store on February 8.
