QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Caloocan City Government has embarked on its month-long celebration of its 61st cityhood anniversary starting Monday, Feb. 6, with the theme “Patuloy sa Pagsulong sa Makabagong Panahon.”

Mayor Dale “Along” Gonzalo Malapitan was joined by Vice Mayor Karina Teh, First District Representative Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, city councilors, as well as department heads and officials from national government agencies in a motorcade that traversed around North and South Caloocan to drumbeat this joyous event.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Along expressed his gratitude to everyone who took part in this momentous celebration of the city.

Sa lahat po ng ating nakasama ngayong araw, sa aking mga kapwa lingkod-bayan at sa lahat ng mga Batang Kankaloo na lumabas sa kanilang mga tahanan para sumalubong, maraming salamat po! (To everyone who joined us today, to my fellow public servants and to every child of Caloocan who came out of their homes to give welcome, thank you very much!),” said Malapitan.

Sa ika-61 na taon na pagkakatatag ng Caloocan, lalo lang po tayong tumitibay bilang siyudad tungo sa isang progresibo at inklusibong lungsod (In the 61st founding anniversary of Caloocan, we are becoming more strengthened as a community towards a progressive and inclusive city),” he added.

On February 16, 1962 Caloocan was inducted into Cityhood, according to the Caloocan City Government website: caloocancity.gov.ph.

In accordance with the said celebration, the city also launched a trade bazaar called “Juanap Buhay Caloocan Trade Bazaar” together with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO), and Caloocan Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO).

This project aims to promote the city’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that offer local and traditional products and services.

The Caloocan City mayor also urged residents to support participating businesses to help them expand  their businesses.

Mga Batang Kankaloo, suportahan po natin ang ating mga kababayang negosyante at tangkilikin ang mga produkto at serbisyong sariling atin (People of Caloocan, let us support our business owners fellows and patronize the products and services that are locally made and available in our city),” said Mayor Along Malapitan.

The said bazaar is located at the C-Cube Complex in Caloocan City Hall - South and can be visited until February 15, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (PIA-NCR)
