More than 500 take Foreign Service Officer test

QUEZON CITY (PIA) -- At least 573 examinees of the Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSC-FSO) participated on Sunday, Feb. 5 in 13 regions across the country. The examination was administered by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

This number represents 89.39% of the total registered examinees (641) from the National Capital Region (NCR), Regions 1 to 11, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

CSC Chairperson Karlo Nograles and Commissioner Ryan Alvin Acosta had personally inspected the conduct of the examination at UST Angelicum College in Quezon City—the testing center for NCR, where 63% or 360 out of the total examinees took the test.

Gusto rin naming magpasalamat sa mga partner schools namin (Another successful Career Service Examination was administered by the Civil Service Commission on Sunday. This is for Foreign Service Officer hopefuls. We thank all the examinees for their cooperation in the exam protocols to make the entire exam procedure smooth. We also want to thank our partner schools),” CSC Chairperson Nograles said.

The CSE-FSO serves both as an eligibility examination and a qualifying test. As an eligibility examination, passers of the CSE-FSO shall be conferred the Career FSO Eligibility. This eligibility is appropriate for first level (clerical) and second level (technical) positions in the government which do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by bar, board, and other laws.

As a qualifying test, it is only one of the five-part Foreign Service Officer Examination (FSOE). Passers of the CSE-FSO shall proceed to the succeeding parts of the FSOE—Preliminary Interview, Written Test, Psychological Test, and Oral Test—all administered by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The FSOE is being done to recruit candidates for the Foreign Service Officer, Class IV position.

The target release date of the exam results is on March 19. The list of passers will be posted on the CSC website.

CSE-FSO was the first career service examination scheduled for 2023.

Moreover, on March 26, the conduct of the first Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) for Professional and Subprofessional levels for this year will be held face-to-face nationwide.

Sa tulong ng pag-inspect ng mga actual conduct of tests, patuloy ang Komisyon sa pag-improve at streamline ng mga proseso para sa lahat ng Career Service Examinations. Inaasahan namin na magiging maayos din ang susunod na pagsusulit sa Marso (With the help of inspecting the actual conduct of tests, the Commission continues to improve and streamline the processes for all Career Service Examinations. We hope that the next exam in March will also go smoothly as well),” added Chairperson Nograles. (CSC / Photos from Karlo Nograles FB Page / PIA-NCR)
