PVAO, PAL Foundation ink partnership for logistics support

QUEZON CITY— The Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) and the Philippine Airlines Foundation, Incorporated (PALFI) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for logistics support on February 6, 2023, at the Dimalupig Hall B, Armed Forces of the Philippines Commissioned Officers Club (AFPCOC), Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

With requests for ambulatory devices, including wheelchairs and canes, coming from all over the country, PVAO encountered difficulties with the logistical requirements of transporting them to our veterans. For this reason, PVAO reached out to the Philippine Airlines Foundation to seek assistance for the airlifting of the much-needed devices.

In his remarks, Mr. Alvin Kendrich Q. Limqueco, Treasurer of PAL Foundation and Senior Vice President of PAL, pledged their utmost support for the veterans. “It is our privilege as your national flag carrier to be of service to our heroes, who defended our country and our people, especially now as they leave their golden years,” he said.

PVAO Administrator, Undersecretary Reynaldo B. Mapagu, also expressed his gratitude to the PAL Foundation for the continuous support they have given to PVAO and the Filipino Veterans Community.

“Today, PALFI extends its heartfelt service to the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office as it commits to airlift essential equipment, health kits, and ambulatory devices, among others, to domestic areas for the members of the Filipino Veterans Community. Such undertaking is a welcome support that will greatly benefit our veterans, especially those living in far-flung areas,” he said.

Through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, PALFI granted PVAO a cargo allowance of 400 kilograms to domestic destinations per month for the airlifting of ambulatory devices and health kits for the Filipino veterans and members of the Filipino Veterans Community, as well as office and medical supplies and materials, with no fuel surcharge or airway bill fee.

Guided by its Kagitingan Roadmap 2028, PVAO continues to ensure the welfare and well-being of Filipino veterans through the implementation of various programs that address their needs. (JLB/PIA-PMD)
