QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) has commended all the 17 local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila for passing the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) assessment of the Bureau of Local Government Supervision under DILG.

These are the local governments of Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig, Taguig, Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and Pateros.

Relatedly, the following Metro Manila mayors shared a perspective that being conferred with GFH does not only demonstrate the city governments’ compliance with fiscal transparency but also its commitment to a responsive governance as a whole.

Passing the Good Financial Housekeeping assessment shows the city’s continued commitment to fiscal discipline and transparency in the local budget and finances, bids, and public offerings,” said Mayor Wes Gatchalian of Valenzuela City.

The seal of good financial housekeeping serves as validation of our efforts to spend our budget and finances in a transparent and honest manner while delivering programs and services most beneficial to our constituents,” according to Mayor John Rey Tiangco of Navotas City.

The local chief executives have also expressed their appreciation to this recognition that highlights their city’s efficient service delivery function.

"Ikinararangal ko pong ibahagi na kabilang ang Lungsod ng Caloocan sa 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping Passers. Patunay po ito ng ating matiwasay na pamamahala, maayos na pangangasiwa sa mga transaksyong pinansyal at transparency sa pag go-gobyerno (It is my honor to announce that the city of Caloocan is included in the list of the 2022 Good Financial Housekeeping Passers. This proves our harmonious governance, systematic management of financial transactions and transparency of governance)," said Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan of Caloocan City.

Since its inception in 2010, the GFH serves as an assessment tool used to measure the performance of the local government in terms of establishing citizen engagement through a transparent reporting of public budget and expenditures.

The GFH is also one of the core components of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) which employs a more comprehensive evaluation of the administrative capacity-building efforts of the local government. (PIA-NCR)
