MANILA, (PIA) -- The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced that more than 80 Japanese employers are in need of skilled Filipino workers.

According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan Ople, the Japanese employers have implicitly expressed that they want highly reliable and trainable Filipino workers.

Ople released the statement after having a consultation meeting with Japanese employers organized by the Migrant Workers Office in Osaka.

The official is part of the Philippine delegation to Japan for the visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

A "Japan desk" will be created in the Office of the Secretary to quickly monitor the needs of Japanese employers and Filipino trainees.

The Filipino workers present in Osaka assured Ople that they are being treated well and that they would prefer to continue working in Japan if the Japanese Government and their employers allow it.

It was also revealed that after the meeting, a dialogue took place with workers working in Japan, under the Technical Internship Training Program (TITP) and Special Skilled Worker (SSW) programs.

The DMW also announced that the salary in Japan is around 130,000 Yen or P54,548 for entry level Technical Internship Training Program (TITP) trainees while it will reach 900,000 Yen (P377,640) for specialized positions among highly skilled professionals. (PIA-NCR)
