QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and its attached agencies held a simultaneous Valentine’s Special activity today, February 14 as a simple treat to the riding public.
As part of the Valentine’s Day Special, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and railway systems personnel greeted commuters in Metro Manila with flowers at selected train stations and bus terminals.
The special event was conducted simultaneously at the LRT-2 Antipolo Station, MRT-3 Shaw Boulevard Station, PNR Tutuban Station, and Paraňaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
At the LRT-2 Antipolo Station, DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino and Light Rail Transit Authority - LRT2 (LRTA) Administrator Hernando Cabrera led the distribution of goodies to passengers.
The Valentine’s treat is an annual fixture at the LRT-2, which was halted at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was re-launched last year, Administrator Cabrera said.
Passengers at the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Tutuban Station received flowers from PCG personnel. Commuters also availed the free blood pressure check at the train station.
Passengers were likewise treated with flowers by Coast Guard personnel at the PITX. Apart from flowers, personnel of the Land Transportation Office - Philippines PITX gave chocolates to new applicants and those renewing their driver's licenses.
Meanwhile at the DOTr MRT-3 Shaw Boulevard Station, over 200 flowers were given to commuters. Amidst the busy travel, the riding public enjoyed the Valentine's treats including the live performance of the PCG band.
Strict security check and COVID-19 safety protocols were still implemented during the DOTr Valentine's Day Special. (dotr/pia-ncr)
