PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- Good news! The City Government of Taguig, in partnership with St. Luke’s Medical Center recently launched its geriatric program.
According to the city government, the program will see the Taguig elderly receiving consultations, lectures, and activities from the hospital's doctors two times a week.
It was envisioned by City Mayor Lani Cayetano to help Taguigueño senior citizens in improving their health and well-being.
The program is headed by Dr. Robert Cano, Taguig City's Program Coordinator for Senior Citizens with Dr. Earleen Seño-Ong, Head of the Geriatric Center at St. Luke’s Global, and Dr. Christianne D. Sajulga, Geriatric Fellow in Training at St. Luke’s.
Every Tuesday, Taguigueño lolos and lolas who pre-registered are scheduled for consultations and will be evaluated by doctors on their memory, visual, and hearing skills to determine whether they require medication.
Meanwhile, every Thursday, lectures and forums on topics like depression, dementia, osteoporosis and eating habits shall be conducted for them.
Other activities include ballroom dancing, yoga, and arts and crafts to help stimulate the mind and body of the elderly.
