MANILA, (PIA) -- Malacanang is now investigating the fake memo that said government employees, including members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), will be subjected to a two-day salary deduction in order to raise funds for the Philippines' relief operations to earthquake-hit Türkiye.
In a statement, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said that the Office of the Executive Secretary is now contacting the authorities regarding the fake memo in order to find out where the misleading document came from and who its source is.
Sec. Garafil assured that those behind the disinformation will be held accountable.
In the leaked fake memo, it was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Meanwhile, the rescue operations of the Philippine Inter-Agency Contingent continue for those affected by the 7.8 earthquake in Türkiye.
According to the latest data, the Department of Health (DOH) helped more than 250 patients from February 11 to February 15, 2023.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) also distributed relief items such as blankets, bonnets, and gloves as protection against the cold that is also experienced in the area.
Aside from the DOH and OCD, the 82-person Philippine rescue team also consists of representatives from the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Army, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. (PIA-NCR)
