QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Makati City government partners with the Globe Telecom in the conduct of the National SIM Registration to beef up the efforts before the April 26, 2023 deadline.
Starting February 20, Globe offers free assisted registration services with a total of 500 assistance desks nationwide including in the city of Makati.
Registration in Makati is being conducted at the Makati City Hall Quadrangle from 8 AM to 4 PM until February 24 where designated priority lanes for senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and pregnant women for accessibility are available.
Registrants are required to bring a valid government-issued ID to the registration site.
In a press conference during the launch, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay encouraged Makatizens to register their SIM cards to prevent deactivation.
The local chief executive also emphasized the importance of SIM Registration saying it protects users from online scams, fraud, and other prevalent cybercrimes.
Meanwhile, Head of Globe Consumer Mobile Business Darius Delgado said the initiative allows the telco to connect with its patrons and lead them towards creating an online space which anchors responsible digital footprint.
“The National SIM Registration Week is a momentous initiative that will bring together Filipinos across the country to register their SIMs and move us closer to our goal of reducing spam and scam text messages, which is the intent of the SIM Registration Act,” Delgado said.
“It’s a historic moment for Globe as we endeavor to get closer to our customers through online channels and on-site booths. We encourage our customers to be part of this activity. Together let’s keep the online space safe and secure,” Delgado added. (PIA-NCR)
