DOLE preps 1,238 TUPAD Program beneficiaries in OccMin

SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-MIMAROPA prepares 1,238 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program from various municipalities in Occidental Mindoro through a contract signing activity and series of orientation on February 20 to 24, 2023.

The activity, in partnership with the Local Government Units (LGUs), covers health and safety procedures, and distributions of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to ensure the preparedness and safety of the beneficiaries under the program.

The said program aims to provide emergency employment for the beneficiaries, who were identified and selected through an assessment, particularly those who were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Paeng last November 2022.

Beneficiaries will take part in social community projects such as de-clogging of canals, waste segregation, and debris cleaning for 15 days in their assigned barangays starting on February 20 to March 10, 2023. Each worker will receive Php 5,325.00 wage by the end of the contract.

“This temporary wage employment is a part of DOLE’s recovery initiative to deter the negative impact of the calamity on the lives and economy of the affected areas. The TUPAD program is living proof of the relentless support of the government to the displaced workers of Occidental Mindoro,” said DOLE Provincial Director Peter James D. Cortazar.

Beneficiaries may also choose to undergo skills training at the conclusion of their emergency employment under Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) of TUPAD Program in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) or its accredited training institutions in the province.
