SAN JUAN CITY (PIA) - The City Government of San Juan, together with the Supreme Court of the Philippines and Department of Justice inaugurates its newly built 4-storey Hall of Justice that houses the offices of Metropolitan and Regional Trial Courts, the Public Attorney’s Office, Family Court and the Office of the City Prosecutor.
Mayor Francis Zamora, together with Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, 11 incumbent justices, judges from the Regional and Metropolitan Trial Court, and some officials of the Department of Justice led the inauguration at the Pinaglabanan Street, Wednesday, March 1.
According to Mayor Zamora, more than a one-stop shop for legal concerns, the Hall of Justice is a testament to the city's commitment to the principles of justice and rule of law.
“This Hall of Justice serves as a one-stop shop for legal concerns housing our Regional Trial Courts, Metropolitan Trial Courts, Offices of the City Prosecutor and the Public Attorney’s Office,” he said.
"It is a testament to the commitment of the Supreme Court and the people of San Juan to the principles of justice and rule of law," he added.
The Philippine Mediation Center, Social Worker’s Office, Family Court, and a play area for child witnesses are also found in the building.
However, Zamora noted that this one-stop shop is just one of the many infrastructures that will be built in the local and national government complex that he envisions for the city.
“As Mayor I have always envisioned this entire area to be what it is now. Our local and national government complex where all the needs of our people are addressed, including of course those connected to the judiciary,” he said.
Apart from the museums and state-of-the-art city hall, the complex shall hold the Eastern Police Headquarters, San Juan City Police Headquarters, City Bureau of Fire Protection, a National Government Center, 800-seater San Juan Theater, Congressional District Office, and a 22-storey in-city public housing, to all of which are under construction.
