Valenzuela City, Saint Bernard in Southern Leyte forge sisterhood ties

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – Valenzuela City and the Municipality of Saint Bernard in Southern Leyte formally forged sisterhood ties on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

On Tuesday, 28 February 2023, Mayor Wes Gatchalian of Valenzuela City and Mayor Edito L. Mulig of Saint Bernard Municipality signed   of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) witnessed by the municipal and city administrators, members of the City and Municipal Council and chairpersons of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation.

During the signing event, both local governments shared their priority projects anchored at the achievement of excellence in public service as well as good governance.

Valenzuela shared the city government’s commitment to efficient and responsive service delivery through ease of doing business initiative and urbanization projects.

Most significant are the establishment of 3S Centers (Sentro ng Sama-Samang Serbisyo) which has digitized the business processes in the city and the creation of Disiplina Villages, a self-sustaining and integrated community for Valenzuelanos.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Saint Bernard featured its rich cultural tourism as well as economic activities, particularly farming and fishing. It also took pride in its people whose hospitable nature helped the community flourish.

Prior to sisterhood, the local governments of Valenzuela and Saint Bernard have been exchanging cooperation from humanitarian aid and assistance to the materialization of social services.

Valenzuela City, through Senator Win Gatchalian, helped in the relief operations in Leyte by providing emergency assistance to calamity victims when the province was struck by Typhoon Odette.

Mayor Mulig, on the other hand, also played an important role in the construction of Disiplina Village Lingunan as the inhouse engineer of Gawad Kalinga whose passion is humane and dignified housing.

The local chief executives expressed hopes of a strengthened coexistence with the sisterhood agreement for the betterment of their services. (PIA-NCR)
