KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province (PIA) -- The city government of Kidapawan has recently distributed brand new armchairs to 29 public schools, 13 of which were secondary schools while 16 were elementary schools, to ensure that students get to learn properly in their respective classrooms.

The recipient high schools were Saniel Cruz National High School, Mt. Apo National High School-Balabag Extension, Mariano Mancera Integrated School, Amas National High School, Datu Igwas IP School, Linangkob National High School, Mt. Apo National High School, Lake Agco Integrated School, Kalaisan National High School, Spottswood National High School, Juan P. Jalipa National High School, Manongol National High School, and Lanao National Highschool.

Each of these schools was given 38 armchairs.

“The new armchairs are better compared to the old ones. These give us comfort while learning and inspire us to learn better,” Kassandra Cate Aballe, Grade 8 student of Amas National High School, said.

Meanwhile, recipient elementary schools were Lake Agco Integrated School, Sayaban Elementary School, Mariano Mancera Integrated School, Bangsamoro Elementary School, Mateo Elementary School, Luvimin Elementary School, Marbel Elementary School, Datu Pananggom E. Andagkit Memorial Elementary School, Junction Elementary School, Mateo Olodin Memorial Elementary School, Paco Central Elementary School, San Miguel Elementary School, Sikitan Elementary School, Gayola Elementary School, San Isidro Elementary School, and Lanao Elementary School.

Each elementary school received 31 armchairs.

Satisfied with the assistance, teachers from recipient schools thanked the city government for being very supportive of the education sector.

Jennie Lyn Filipino, senior high school coordinator of Saniel Cruz National High School, emphasized the support given to them will have a positive impact on the performance of students in class, particularly the students of Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM).

“We had a problem in the previous months because students don’t have chairs. Realizing the nature of the subjects they have, more on computation, they really find it difficult to do the tasks especially sometimes they are seated on the floor and are using monoblocs as tables,” she said.

The Office of the City Budget Officer disclosed that the project has cost the city government P1,450,000 taken from its Special Education Fund. Other schools will receive the same assistance in the next days. (with reports from CIO-Kidapawan)
