PIA Calabarzon on board Army 2ID’s multi-sectoral advisory panel

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — Aside from being Philippine Army’s partner in achieving lasting peace in the region, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Calabarzon is taking a new role as member of the 2nd Infantry Division’s Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board (MSAB).

In a briefing held Tuesday, March 7, PIA Calabarzon Regional Director Cristina Arzadon welcomed the 2ID’s invitation to be one of its advisors and accountability partners in pursuing reforms and professionalizing its ranks under the Army Transformation Roadmap (ATR) 2040.

The ATR seeks to institutionalize genuine reforms based on good governance, performance excellence, and enhanced public-private partnerships. The expanded roadmap, to be pursued until 2040, envisions Philippine Army to be world-class, multi-mission ready, and cross-domain capable.

The 2ID, the major peacekeeping force in the Calabarzon region, also serves the Bicol region and the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Lt. Col. Kim Evangelista, chief of the 2ID's strategy alignment section, who led the briefing for PIA Calabarzon employees, said Arzadon had been chosen to be part of the MSAB given the PIA Calabarzon’s significant contributions in attaining peace and development in the region.

Evangelista explained that the MSAB was established to advise and assist the Philippine Army in implementing projects that serve the Filipino people and enhance the army’s capability in various areas. He said the MSAB had been one of the 2ID’s steady and reliable partners since its establishment in 2015.

Arzadon fully supported the ATR and expressed hope that PIA would be able to share its expertise in strategic and development communication. She also commits to sharing platforms of the PIA to boost awareness of the military’s transformation agenda.

PIA Calabarzon and 2ID have worked for various peace efforts under the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, where PIA Calabarzon sits as Chairperson of the Strategic Communication Cluster.

Arzadon’s membership to the MSAB is set to be formalized in the coming weeks. (FSC, PIA4A)
