QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The city government of Las Piñas conducted an immunization drive against cervical cancer on Tuesday (March 14) at Talon Uno Elementary School and CAA Elementary School.
Through the initiative of Mayor Imelda Aguilar and Vice Mayor April Aguilar, the City Health Office (CHO) have vaccinated more than 1,200 girls aged 9 to 14 years old with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that will protect them from contracting cancer-causing infections in the cervix.
The CHO also invited resource speakers to provide relevant health education on cervical cancer prevention and ways to control the dreaded disease.
The school-based vaccination drive is part of the health services of the city in line with the celebration of the National Women’s Month.
Last March 8, the city government also held various cancer awareness program including free zumba classes, breast examination, chest x-ray, and cervical cancer screening in promotion of early detection, prevention, as well as the improvement of prognosis. (PIA-NCR)
