KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) -- South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. is named as the new chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Region 12 (Soccsksargen).
In its social media post on Tuesday, the Presidential Communications Office, released the latest batch of appointments, comprised mostly of RPOC chairpersons and vice-chairpersons.
Appointed as chairpersons of RPOC are San Juan Mayor Francisco Zamora for the National Capital Region, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong for the Cordillera Administrative Region, La Union Governor Raphaella Veronica Ortega-David for Ilocos Region, Nueva Viscaya Governor Carlos Padilla for Cagayan Valley, Zambales Governor Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. for Central Luzon, Quezon Governor Angelina Tan for Calabarzon, Occidental Mindoro Governor Eduardo Gadiano for Mimaropa, Sorsogon Governor Jose Edwin Hamor for Bicol Region.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson for Western Visayas Region, Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez for Easter Visayas Region, Zamboanga Sibugay Governor Dulce Ann Hofer for Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte for Davao Region, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. for Soccsksargen Region, Surigao del Sur Alexander Pimentel for Caraga, and Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Per Executive Order No. 309 s. 1987 the regional, provincial and city/municipal peace and order councils a) formulate plans and recommend such measures which will improve or enhance peace and order and public safety in their respective areas of responsibility;
b) monitor the implementation of peace and order programs and projects at the provincial, city or municipal levels and the operation of Civilian Volunteer Self-Defense Organizations and such other counter-insurgency programs and activities; c) make periodic assessments of the prevailing peace and order situation in their respective areas of responsibility and submit a report thereon with recommendations to the Chairman of the National Peace and Order Council; and d) perform all other functions assigned by law, the President, or the National Peace and Order Council.
