PBBM to grace biggest Filipino-Chinese biz convention

MANILA, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday will be the guest of honor and speaker to the 33rd Biennial Convention of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Pres. Marcos is set to keynote the event with the group of Filipino-Chinese business leaders and witness the presentation of plaque of recognition to FFCCCII President Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong by honorary presidents. Joining the President will be distinguished guests from the government, diplomatic corps and the business sector.

Participating in this convention are more than 800 outstanding business leaders of the Filipino Chinese community. They represent all the regions of our country and all sectors of our economy,” Liong said in an online post.

In the next three days, we will report and account the projects and activities we have done in the past four years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our federation decided to postpone the convention last 2021 to this year,” he added.

The Chief Executive had earlier thanked the FFCCCII for heeding his call to take a “whole-of-nation approach” to accelerate the country’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

For its part, the FFCCCII, which is the largest organization of Filipino business owners with Chinese heritage, expressed support for the Marcos administration’s economic recovery plans.

The President has been holding a series of talks with the country's business leaders to improve the services of various sectors, including the agriculture industry.

It can be recalled that the FFCCCII was established in 1954 when the late President Ramon Magsaysay talked to a group of Filipino-Chinese business owners and entrepreneurs into creating an organization that can help the government and contribute in his program of nation-building.

This year, the federation aligned its theme, "Unity for development and prosperity" in support of the agenda of the Marcos administration. (PIA-NCR)
