MANILA, (PIA) -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday will lead the ceremonial turnover of 1,380 housing units of the St. Gregory Homes Housing Project in Malabon City, as part of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) program.

Upon arrival, Pres. Marcos, together with Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar, National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Joeben A. Tai and other officials, will conduct a quick inspection of a model unit located in Barangay Panghulo.

Each unit, according to an NHA press release, consists of one bedroom, kitchen, dining area, toilet, laundry area and living room.

The Chief Executive, who has made affordable housing a priority of his administration, will personally award the Certificates of Eligibility of Lot Allocation (CELA) to the beneficiaries at the NHA project site.

The St. Gregory Homes Project and other 4PH housings across the country are designed for minimum wage earners, informal settlers, those living along high-risk areas and danger zones, and other members of the poor communities who desire affordable, safe, and comfortable houses.

It has been the Marcos administration’s goal to build 1 million houses each year, under his six-year term, to provide Filipinos with decent housing and address the 6 million housing backlog in the country.

The President also assured that the government will offer affordable monthly payments for these housing units that are constructed of quality materials and could withstand calamities.

The Malabon City Government, for its part, has been helping residents transfer to their new community.

Mayor Sandoval said the project also includes the putting up of facilities such as schools, markets, health centers, and some economic structures in the community. (PIA-NCR)
