MANILA, (PIA) -- The Phlippine Information Agency-National Capital Region team, led by Regional Director Emver Cortez, made a courtesy call on Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan at City Hall, Wednesday.
During the meeting, Mayor Along emphasized his administration's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, and a green, more liveable Caloocan City, which has been attracting investors and entrepreneurs from various industries.
The mayor also highlighted some of the ongoing projects and initiatives of his administration, including the construction of new public facilities, the improvement of infrastructure, and the implementation of various programs for city residents.
Cortez, for his part, expressed his group's full support for the City Mayor's vision and programs and the objective to "strengthen partnership especially in terms of providing media literacy, responsible sharing of information and social media [marketing]."
"We are grateful for the opportunity to meet with Mayor Malapitan and share our ideas and concerns. We look forward to working together to promote not only the further growth of Caloocan City, but also its emerging landmarks," he added.
Malapitan and Cortez also tackled ways to improve linkages between the the local government and the regional agency in better serving residents.
It can be recalled that Caloocan is a northern metro city with a rich history and a combined total land area of 5,333.40 hectares. The city is also divided into three geographic locations, namely its first, second and third districts. It is bounded on the north-northwest by the Cities of Valenzuela, Malabon and Navotas; on the east by Quezon City; and on the south by the City of Manila.
On the other hand, PIA-NCR, the regional development communication and information arm of the national government, has been actively engaged in grassroots communication, social mobilization and advocacy that inform and empower communities in the capital region.
Also present during the meeting between Malapitan and Cortez were PIA-NCR Assistant Regional Director Alice Sicat, Caloocan City Public Information Office Chief Princess Garcia, and PIA-NCR Administrative and Finance Chief Jimmyley Guzman.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing their commitment to a continued partnership that will benefit the people of Caloocan City. (PIA-NCR)
