CALAMBA CITY (PIA) – The state-run Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG has feted members and partners in the government and private sector for its new milestones in 42 years of operation.
Marilene Acosta, Pag-IBIG president and CEO, said the HDMF posted a new record-high in total membership savings at P79.9 billion or a 25 percent increase in collection in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Modified Pag-IBIG 2 (MP2) savings program hit the highest increase by far at P39.84 billion in 2022 from P25.95 billion in 2021.
The MP2 program is a special voluntary savings facility with a five-year maturity, designed for active Pag-Ibig Fund members to save more for a minimum of P500 per remittance.
“Pag-IBIG Fund can effectively pursue its mandate only through the support of our members, our employer partners, partner developers, collecting agents, collecting partners, and the rest of our stakeholders,” Acosta said in the South Luzon leg of its Stakeholder Accomplishment Reports (StAR) in Muntinlupa City.
In March 2023, more Filipinos also signed up for the government’s shelter financing program reaching 15.2 million members, the highest number of active members in five years, surpassing the pre-Covid-19 pandemic active membership in 2019.
“In a span of three months, over 130,000 Filipino workers were added to the Pag-IBIG Fund’s growing membership,” Acosta added.
Acosta attributed the increase in Pag-IBIG’s collections to the recovery of industries from the pandemic resulting in more workers returning to their jobs.
This year, Pag-IBIG Fund assured its members that they will improve their services such as housing loans and short-term loans.
Pag-IBIG will also play a vital role in the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program, the Marcos administration’s flagship housing program helmed by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
“In 2023 onwards mas lalo naming pagbubutihin ang aming serbisyo sa mga miyembro. Mas marami pang housing loans at short-term loans. Tutulong rin kami sa DHSUD para sa Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program,” Acosta said.
More Pag-IBIG members will also enjoy the agency’s services as it will focus on online transactions and mobile apps. (Patricia Bermudez, PIA4A)
